ResultsOnDemand (ROD) is SumTotal’s newest offering, and its first “Software as a
Service” offering based on the TotalLMS platform. First announced at
TotalConnection, this offering is proving to be of great interest to customers
on our Pathlore and OnTrack product lines.
What is Software as a Service (SaaS)?
“The software company provides maintenance, daily technical operation, and
support for the software provided to the client.”
ResultsOnDemand includes:
- TotalLMS access
- Maintenance
- Hosting
- All version upgrades
- Hotfix and Service Packs applied automatically
- Global domain administrative support
- Daily HR data synch

What makes ResultsOnDemand different?
Here at SumTotal we have spent considerable time and effort developing a plan
for our valued Pathlore and OnTrack customers. We have looked at all the LMS
platforms we own and considered each of them for their strengths and weaknesses
in the market.
Our research has led us to the following conclusions:
TotalLMS 7.2 already has many of things that Pathlore and OnTrack customers
have been asking for. Here are just a few examples:

100% Web-based – no need for Windows client applications
such as parts of OnTrack, RegSam, Batch Reporter, Mail Server, etc.

Support for over a dozen languages out of the box,
including double-byte languages.

Report Manager – an integrated, built-in reporting
engine (no need for a 3rd-party system like Crystal)

An offline player for SCORM content

TotalPerformance (a Performance Management solution)

Because some of these features would be very difficult to add to our other
platforms, we’ve concluded that the TotalLMS platform is the best starting point
for the future. Therefore, ResultsOnDemand is based on TotalLMS 7.2.
Closing the Feature Gap
However, as many Pathlore and OnTrack customers have pointed out, not
everything they do today can be done (or done as easily) in TotalLMS 7.2. To
bridge these functional gaps, ResultsOnDemand will gain a unique roadmap of
features and functions based on the following major inputs:

especially mid-sized organizations interested in the Software as a Service

affordable migration path for many Pathlore and OnTrack customers.
Timing Considerations
ResultsOnDemand is available today, and a number of Pathlore/OnTrack
customers are in the process of upgrading.
You can upgrade now if you:

Need the advanced features of TotalLMS 7.2 at an
affordable price

Are on an older Pathlore version and do not want a path
containing multiple upgrades

Do not rely heavily on the current functional gaps
You can wait for a subsequent release if:

You rely on Pathlore or OnTrack functionality that is
not yet in ResultsOnDemand
-
You simply aren’t ready to upgrade at this time, or need
time to plan and budget
When you’re ready for ResultsOnDemand, it will be ready for you!
